Halloween VGM: Super Mario 64

For a change, this one is a pretty spooky song from a pretty spooky level from a not very spooky game! Super Mario 64’s haunted house level, Big Boo's Haunt was one of my favorite levels in the game. It was such a weird place. You get there not by jumping into a painting like every other level, but by diving into a tiny house in a bird cage that’s inside a Boo! Once in…

Halloween VGM: Silent Hill

Silent Hill is scary for a lot of reasons. It has crazy monsters, great dark atmosphere, and a pretty haunting soundtrack. Most of the music during the game tends to be sort of industrial in nature, but the opening self-titled song is a classic. So many games, so little time

So man, a vacation goes by really, really fast. My vacation has been spent primarily at home, and I’ve been trying to cram in as much video game playing as I can to make up for the lack of gaming when I’m working and then coming home to work on stuff for school. I’ve made some good progress so far, completing the new Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep on PSP, then finally finishing up…

Weekend Retro Buys

I indulged in a little retro shopping spree over the weekend. Beauty and the Beast looks like it's never been played, it's in perfect condition. I'm interested in seeing how that game plays. It's made by Hudson, which seems an odd pick for this type of game. I guess I think Hudson and I immediately think of Bomberman and Adventure Island. Next we've got Animaniacs for the Genesis. I'm guessing this is the same…
