Let's review some (all?) Nintendo Power!

Nintendo Power magazines are still one of those huge ways I can get a dose of pure nostalgia so quickly, especially those old issues. From the unique art they used on their covers to the very Japanese style of layout they employed. From the sometimes weird illustrations they would have in their pages to the oh so beloved comics like Howard and Nester. I'll sometimes just grab a random old issue and flip through it, reliving a time when this was my one connection to the latest video gaming news and strategies for beating the toughest games.

With a stack of Nintendo Powers by your side, you really felt you'd have the edge in any game!

So I thought it might be fun to take a deep dive, and review some Nintendo Power magazines in chronological order. I'm not sure if anyone else will find it as fascinating as I do, but I'm beyond excited to embark on this adventure. Picture me scrutinizing every page, dissecting what made these old issues so utterly fantastic.

Here's the deal: there's an enormous amount of Nintendo Power goodness out there, a whopping 285 issues spanning from 1988 to 2017. It's a treasure trove! To avoid overwhelming myself and risking burnout, I've devised a plan. I'll tackle this mammoth task year by year, breaking it down into more manageable chunks. For now, let's focus on the first year of publication, which comprises six issues from July/August 1988 to July/August 1989. Once we conquer the initial year, we'll regroup and figure out our next move. Sound good?

I still have most of my subscription to Nintendo Power, though I think of the first year I only have the first and sixth issue. So while I'll try to use my own magazines where possible, I'll most likely be reading digital versions. If you're itching to follow along, you'll be delighted to know that the entire Nintendo Power collection is available on Archive.org! How convenient is that? I'll provide links to each issue as we dive into this nostalgic extravaganza. Let's relive the magic, one magazine issue at a time!
