Seinfeld's video rental stores!

Let's scrutinize a sitcom's set WAY too closely, shall we? I think anyone who is nostalgic for the 80s or 90s thinks back fondly on video rental places. There were several locally owned video places near me when I was a kid, and each weekend I'd love to go to the store, spend like fifteen minutes just wandering the aisles looking at the VHS boxes and decided what to get. So one a recent re-watch…

Atari 50: the best retro collection

As a retro gaming enthusiast, I've really been enjoying the sheer volume of retro gaming collections that have been coming out these past few years. Some of my favorites have been the Disney Afternoon Collection, the Castlevania Collection (complete with the first official translation of the Famicom Kid Dracula game!), and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cowabunga Collection. The Cowabunga Collection came out last Summer, and at the time I considered it to be the…

When you're a retro gamer but collecting looks bleak.

I feel like I've been a retro gamer as long as it was even possible to be one. When Super Nintendo was still the biggest thing out there and we were excitedly waiting for Nintendo 64 to drop, I would frequently stop in at my local Funcoland. Their trade-in and used game prices would change every month, and each month they had a newpaper-like print of every game that was available, how much it sold…

Bring Blogs Back!

I'm resurrecting this old blog space in the spirit of the Bring Blogs Back online initiative! First of all, a disclaimer. Any of the posts before this one may contain broken links or images. I had planned on this…

Let's Go Retro! Popeye for NES

A new Let's Go Retro! And I'd have an even NEWER one, if I didn't lose the audio partway through recording...then realize that I'd never hit record for the video. Oh well, guess we'll have to wait for Battletoads another day! For now, enjoy Popeye for NES, an often overlooked classic by Nintendo!
