Farmer's Market Finds!

So with the extended weekend, I decided to drag myself and a friend to the Berlin Farmer's Market, which contrary to the title is more of a flea market with stands selling all kinds of old things that only weirdos and whackjobs would want. Being at least one of those two things, I love going here to see all the vintage gaming goodness to be had. I was hoping at least two stands would have…

When did gaming become so much work?

So with the 4th of July holiday here in the US, naturally our first thought goes to all the gaming we can get done while we have some spare time. Today I was playing some Vice City (a game I don't often pick up) and just started fooling around, killing time. After a while, I noticed I felt guilty about gaming without a purpose. After all, I have so many other games that I'm only…

It plays Dreamcast games, too!

So last week I went and bought a Dreamcast from my local thrift store. It's also my first Sega system. Back in the days of the great Nintendo/Sega console wars, I was firmly on the Nintendo side of the name-calling fence. In search of the Famicom adapter

The summer seems to be doing strange things to my head. In addition to traversing thrift shops and flea markets to find used games like mad, I've also become obsessed with finding an NES cartridge that houses a Famicom to NES adapter inside. As many of you may already know, there's a quick and guaranteed way to obtain an NES to Famicom converter, and that's by gutting certain old NES titles. The original line-up of…

Is there nothing Spore can't do?

Just a quick post for anyone who hasn't seen this yet, it's so hilarious. This week's VGCats comic deals with the new Will Wright game, Spore, and includes some bizarre creatures, including one with an "ass for eyes"(not shown here). The people at Maxis took the liberty of remaking the strip, now with exact recreations of Scott's creature drawings as real Spore creatures...even the "ass for eyes" one! I can't wait to get ahold of…
